getting to know me.

I am part of everything that I have read.

A few posts in felt like an appropriate time to let you all get to know me. Here is a little q&a for those who don’t know me and for those who do. I’ve taken these questions from a variety of other book blogs and created a hodgepodge collection of my own. I hope you enjoy and learn something new about yours truly.

Can you stop reading at any time, or does it have to be a certain page or chapter?

I aim to end on a certain section, not a whole chapter or page. I read before bed and sometimes I get so sleepy that I just stop reading mid-sentence.

Do you eat or drink anything while reading?

I always have a hot drink in my hand. My go to’s are spicy chai tea lattes or earl grey tea.

Can you read listening to music or watching TV?

I can listen to music, but only instrumental. I find that I get too distracted and start to sing along to lyrics, ha. TV is a definite no.

One book at a time, or several at once?

I have tried reading several books at once and I felt less motivated to read each of them. One at a time works best for my concentration.

Reading at home or everywhere?

I prefer reading at home, as I am a hobbit. But I absolutely love reading outside when the weather is right.

Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Reading silently in my head. When I was in grade school I dreaded when the teacher would read out loud. I read at a faster pace so reading out loud just drags for me.

Do you read ahead, or skip pages?

My eyes are notorious for skipping around on the page if I’m nearing the end of a chapter. But I always read sentence by sentence.

Breaking the spine or keeping it new?

Keeping it new. I am borderline obsessive about keeping my books pristine. Lending people books used to give me heart palpatations. I’m getting better at it.

Guilty pleasure book?

The notion of “guilty pleasures” is something my boyfriend and I have discussed. If it is something that brings you joy, it shouldn’t make you feel guilty. I’d have to say my go-to cheesier type of book is anything written by Sarah Dessen. L

Buying books or borrowing books?

I love buying books to add to my collection. I do borrow though from family and friends and the library.

Hardback or paperback?

Hardback. They can endure their lifespan much better.

Do you write books, or just read them?

I read books, but never say never. I am a writer after all.
